Simple support for dial indicator
thingiverse
This simple dial indicator support is designed to create a versatile measuring tool that can be used in various applications. It can be used to level the bed of a 3D printer or a CNC router with ease. Additionally, it can function as a fixed gauge where placing any piece under it will yield a measurement by reading it on the screen. To obtain the total measurement, simply add the distance from the pointer to the base. For its construction, I used the anchor posted at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:42305 and the support https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1607993, which I reinforced to accommodate the weight of the entire assembly. To these two pieces, I attached a simple crosspiece that holds 8 mm smooth rods in place. I used 250mm rods, but any length can be used depending on personal preference. To secure the crosshead to the rods, I employed 3mm socket cap screws. In the crosshead, I installed threaded inserts M3 x 5 x 5 mm where the captive screws screw into place. To provide stability to the entire assembly, I made sure the rod passes through the base and is tightly secured by the base jaw. This ensures a completely fixed and vibration-free assembly.
