Simple springy clip for wide things

I aimed to attach a cutting mat directly to my print bed when using my 3D printer as a plotter. The print bed is substantial, so I required a clip capable of bridging it effectively. Therefore, this makeshift solution was born. You can adapt it in numerous ways, but I printed it with the lower jaw having small teeth and the upper jaw being smooth, then applied a piece of rubber from an old bicycle inner tube to the top jaw using Shoe Goo. The original dimensions are suitable for the DaVinci 1.0a model.
