Simple Spice Rack (Low Material Usage)
prusaprinters

Model Description:

This is a set of shelves that hold small tins of spices. There is space for six spice tins per shelf with a total of four shelves by default. To keep the print easy to print with no need of supports I have detached the legs from the shelf.

My goal in this, was to design a simple shelf that didn't use a lot of material, while remaining strong and fully functional

Please post your makes and comments!

Spice Tin Dimensions:

The spice tins that I have designed this for are the Kroger tins with the following dimensions.

Height: 81.58mm, Depth: 59.60mm, Width: 33.27mm

Print Instructions:

I printed these at a layer height of 0.20mm with a 5% infill.

Build Instructions:

I have included a test piece of just one tin section for the tray, if your desired tin doesn't fit the model you can make adjustments in the included CAD files.

You will need a little super glue to attach the legs to the trays. After curing the glue for a minute or so while holding the leg to the shelf you can let it completely cure with tins on the shelf for full weight to help the glue bind.

How I made this:

I made this in FreeCAD with the help of the Honeycomb macro for the legs. I made this model mostly parametric for ease of use. I had some issues with the linear pattern function for the indents of the tins so you will have to modify the distance for those manually.

I have included the FreeCAD files if you would like to modify anything. The honeycomb macro is located at this link: https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Macro_Honeycomb
