Simple Shotglass

Modelled from caliper measurements I took of a traditional shotglass, this 3D printed ABS version proved to be watertight and highly resistant to dissolving by alcohol. Having limited knowledge in chemistry, I wasn't certain that ABS would hold up to concentrated ethanol, so I decided to test its limits. I filled the shotglass with denatured alcohol (pure ethanol mixed with a little methanol, which is tainted to be fatal if ingested... required by U.S. law, interestingly). I left the denatured alcohol in the shotglass for two hours. When time was up, I strained the contents through a paper towel into a clear plastic cup. I inspected the paper towel for any black ABS residue and found none. Examining the cup's contents showed no signs of impurities or staining. Based on my findings, it is unlikely that ethanol dissolves ABS significantly. I know from past experiences that acetone quickly dissolves ABS instantly, but fortunately, this experiment didn't end in a violent reaction. Considering the results, I'm confident that a shotglass printed with ABS would be safe to use.
