Simple Secret Box II: Coin Bank is a clever coin bank with a hidden locking mechanism that's sure to intrigue your grandkids. This design was created to teach kids the importance of saving money, but it also includes a fun twist - if they want to make an early withdrawal, they'll have to figure out how to open the box on their own! The box features dovetail fixed joinery and a sliding dovetail top, adding an extra layer of challenge and excitement. The locking mechanism is based on the ingenious "Radbox" design from Germany, which uses two mirrored slotted wheels to keep the box closed. While my design takes a slightly different approach, using a cam-shaped mechanism instead of a wheel-shaped one, the principle remains the same. And just like the original design, the locking mechanism stays hidden even when the box is opened. I'm grateful for the opportunity to share this design with you, but I couldn't find the original designer's name to give them proper credit. If you happen to know who it is, please let me know so I can give them the recognition they deserve. Building Simple Secret Box II: Coin Bank requires no complicated hardware or electronics - just 3D printed parts, which makes it a fun and accessible project for anyone with a 3D printer. I designed this model using Autodesk Fusion 360, sliced it with Cura 3.4.1, and printed it on both an Ultimaker 2+ Extended and an Ultimaker 3 Extended in PLA. If you have any questions or need help with the design, please don't hesitate to ask - I'm happy to assist and appreciate your feedback!
