Simple Quarter Holder: One Roll's Worth
thingiverse
I needed a simple quarters-only holder to place next to my personal pay phone, where I keep my stash of quarters. Since one was not available, I drew up this design. It features a convenient slot that allows me to grab one or more quarters at once. If I get the single-quarter thickness just right, it should hold an entire roll's worth! For build instructions, see below. Instructions The holder is 3D printed on my CTC Makerbot clone machine using ReplicatorG as the controller and Skeinforge for slicing. I'm using 1.75 mm ABS plastic in a vibrant "AT&T blue" hue. The print settings are: No raft or support needed Fill density: 25% Number of shells: 1 Feedrate: 40 mm/s Travel feedrate: 55 Print temperature: 220°C Print bed material: aftermarket borosilicate glass Preheat time before printing: 15-20 minutes I must emphasize that most or all print beds report a different temperature than the actual surface temperature of the bed, which is what matters. I've characterized my print bed with an affordable IR temperature meter and adjusted the set point on my machine to ensure the correct value at the print surface. Allowing 15-20 minutes for preheating is essential, especially since the glass takes time to warm up due to its poor thermal conductivity.
