Simple Prusa i3 Filament Spool Holder. (Makerbot 2kg spools)
thingiverse
This is a super easy yet reliable filament holder for Prusa i3, Makerbot Spools. I'm sharing this idea so others can create their own custom holders for their specific spools. Ultra-fast spool changing takes seconds! Only two small pieces are needed to print. One additional piece of hardware is required: 1 608 bearing. To assemble: Print both parts. The bearing holder needs to be printed at 102% size to fit perfectly, but the spool pin can remain at normal 100% size. Use channel-locks or a similar tool to pop the bearing into place. Next, use channel locks or a similar tool to push the bearing holder into the spool until it's flush with one side. Remove the top screw and spacer from your LCD screen on the side of your choice. Slide the spool pin over the printer frame so that the holes line up with the removed screw, and also position the thin 'leg' in front. Reinstall the screw without the spacer. Slide on the spool with the bearing flush-side down. Enjoy!
