This mounting system, designed for a MakerBot Thing-O-Matic fan, can also likely work with a Cupcake. It was created as a temporary solution while waiting for a MK6 stepstruder. The user aimed to print cube gears (Emmett's design) and found existing solutions like Around the Nozzle Cooling and Ducted Fan too complicated. This fan mount requires quarter-inch dowels or Plastruct polystyrene rods, six bolts, and six nuts. The mount is made up of parts from Fan-1-mount.stl and Fan-2-Mount.stl. However, this design doesn't cool the nozzle's back well and could be improved with other solutions like Nozzle Cooling or Ducted Fan. Links to alternative designs are provided. Measurements for rod lengths are approximately 16cm in X direction and 8-10cm in Y direction. The connector size might be reduced, but the user considers it functional as is.
