Simple parameterised self-watering plant pot
thingiverse
I was looking for some plant pots that would self-water without any fancy features - just let me dip string and wick water up into the pot. I couldn't find anything that printed well without a lot of supports or came in whatever size I needed it to be. So, I decided to create one myself. It's very straightforward - a top and bottom part driven by parameters so you can make them any size you want. Just drop string through the holes (make sure it's made from a natural fiber that will absorb water), fill with compost, plant up as usual, then fill the base with water. Two sets of STLs are included - one small one for testing to see if it prints okay (or could be used for succulents) and a larger one the size I needed. If you want your pots to last a long time, it's probably better to print them in ABS or PETG. Have fun!
