Simple Paddle Shifter/Switch (12x12x7.3mm button)
thingiverse
This is an extremely simple paddle button designed for mounting on steering wheels as shifter paddles or anywhere else where a paddle button is needed. No screws, rods, magnets, or microswitches are required. Very short travel allows just a tap to activate the switch. Not perfect but surprisingly good if you prefer short travel paddles. Only one standard 12x12x7.3mm dip pushbutton is necessary, which can be found by searching for "12mm 7.3 button" on aliexpress or ebay - a few cents will get it done. The mounting grid measures 25x15mm with 3mm holes at the sides. Cables can be routed through a channel in the back or out of the bottom, and pins sticking out can be trimmed or bent to hold the switch in place tighter if desired. Bending the front pins back into the channel also helps secure the switch. A thin 1.75mm filament is pushed into the side holes to hold the paddle in place. If it doesn't fit perfectly, try bending it straight as possible, maybe oiling it or drilling a tiny bit wider to eliminate overhangs. However, for most cases, bending it straight is enough. Everything is designed to move freely with tight tolerances to minimize slop. If something does bind, try grinding and oiling it to achieve a very smooth operation. Two paddles are included - one small and one larger.
