Simple one-tone flute

Simple one-tone flute

Update: "flute08.stl" is the version I use the most these days. It has a tiny square break-away part that supports the overhang of the corner. Makes for prettier prints and less cleanup.InstructionsTurns out that making a flute is a lot harder than you would think, but after a long weekend fiddling, I found a design that is simple, prints fast and works all the time. This model works fine on my Ultimaker, but it should print successfully on other printers. The crux really is getting the bottom of the "gap" sharp and fine, so it divides the airstream successfully. Due to this, there is a limit to how small you can make it.To make other tones, experiment with scaling the flute. If you print with PLA and have retraction/comb available in your slicer, use it for less cleanup. You'll see this as it prints, but there's an "island" in the design that creates a few "strings". If you don't have this, the strings are easy to remove with just a par of tweezers. For ABS, this is not a problem at all.To avoid the ever-annoying question of what flute belongs to who, it added the initials of each kid that got it (as seen in the image).Update: confirmed that it prints nicely on both MakerGear M2 and Printrbot Jr.Category: Music
