Simple one-sided roller chain
thingiverse
I needed a simple and lightweight roller chain for my project that could easily print on a basic extruder printer. So, I designed one that has been printing well with PLA filament and requires minimal cleanup. This design is not based on any standard chain size and consists of individual links that simply snap together. Each link adds 12.5 mm to the total length of the chain (total link length is 18 mm). I have included the original Sketchup file for reference. I initially designed this at a reduced scale, but it surprisingly worked well as a linkage or even a bracelet. However, it didn't seem suitable for working with a sprocket due to its size and design. There's now a demo project that tests the chain by spinning a sprocket, which includes a short video. **Print Settings** * Printer: da Vinci Mini w * Rafts: No rafts are required * Supports: No supports needed * Resolution: 0.3mm resolution is recommended * Infill: Print with 10% infill for optimal results * Notes: I print in batches of 6-10 links and use the "Good" default settings at standard speed. Layer height is set to 0.3mm, but some documentation suggests using 0.2mm resolution for x/y axis at this speed.
