Simple notched hinge
prusaprinters
This Thing is just a simple notched hinge, with four 3.5 mm mounting holes in the base and one in the arm. By notched, I mean that the arm has detents (two, 90° apart) that catch on a springy "cam", to make the hinge lock in either the folded or extended position. The hole in the arm is sized for "PC fan screws". As can be seen in the photo, I use these to mount my enclosure's fans in such a way that I can just "flip" them out of the way when I want to stop their airflow (i.e. when printing ABS, I just want a minimal amount of layer fan, but turning that on turns on the big fans, too), or when I have to reach into the enclosure. Simply print the parts, strip off the support, arrange the hinge pieces together as shown, and press the axle piece in. The axle is very slightly loose most of the way, but is a tight press/friction fit for the last few millimeters, taking advantage of the layer lines, so as not to require glue to hold it in. The base has a support object that you may wish to use if your slicer doesn't produce acceptable supports. As with all of my models where a support object is provided, a crosshairs is formed by it and the object it supports when they are properly aligned. A version of the axle is provided with a "mouse ear" at the base, as a brim.
