Simple Magnetic Hooks
thingiverse
I was searching for hooks to hang pot holders and came up with these designs. Our vintage metal cabinets have metal surfaces, so I incorporated a magnet into each design, but you could also use double-sided tape or some other adhesive as an alternative fastener. I created three styles, and while they differ in appearance, they're all functionally identical. I designed these hooks for easy printing with minimal support material needed. The hook or peg is printed along the x-axis or y-axis (depending on how you orient them on your print bed), which is the most structurally sound orientation for printing. They seem surprisingly strong considering their size and can hold our pot holders without any issues. Print Settings Printer: PowerSpec 3D Pro Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.01 Infill: 15% Notes: These designs are very easy to print, so simply use your preferred settings for the chosen filament and let it print. I used a 0.01 layer height to help with overhangs in the holes, but this might not be necessary. Post-Printing I installed small rare earth magnets into each hook. They're round, 8mm wide by 3mm tall (0.315" x 0.118"), and I purchased them from Micro Center. Any magnet of that size will work or you can modify the .stl file for a different size. If buying from Micro Center, look for "Super Magnets" branded as "The Magnet Source" in packs of ten.
