Simple Light Weight Holiday Ornament

Human: The visual polyhedra site, located at http://dmccooey.com/polyhedra/, offers numerous polyhedra that can be easily converted into three-dimensional objects using openSCAD software. One such example is the snub truncated icosahedron found at http://dmccooey.com/polyhedra/SnubTruncatedIcosahedron.html. By replacing the five and six-fold faces with empty space, a simple lightweight ornament can be created. The remaining three-fold faces are then enhanced by outlining for added visual appeal. To facilitate printing, a flat surface is included at the bottom and a hole for hanging is strategically placed at the top. This design results in an ornament that weighs approximately 15 grams. OpenSCAD code is also provided for users who wish to modify or customize the design.
