Simple Layer Height Bed Test

Simple Layer Height Bed Test

thingiverse

Here is a simple layer height bed test so you can finely tune your nozzle to bed height and get an even layer across your printer bed in the same print. Before you start, make sure your bed is spotless. If you have a removable spring steel metal plate, give it a thorough wipe with a brillo pad to dull it up and remove any oils, debris, etc. It's just a single 0.2mm layer test of 15x15mm squares in different places on your printer bed inside a 185x185mm square pattern. The test has a 2.5mm thick perimeter around the squares which is printed first so you can adjust your bed as it prints. I always run my first layer very slow at 15mm/s and with a nozzle temperature of 195c using PLA, along with a bed temperature of 70c. For any layers above this, my bed temperature drops to 50c while the nozzle remains at 195c to prevent edges or corners from curling up in long prints, which I no longer experience. This test only takes 12 minutes to complete and you'll see right away where your bed needs adjusting.
