Simple Knob (for Cabinet or Drawer)

This is a submission from someone looking to give back after discovering many interesting things here.\nA simple cabinet / drawer knob is designed for use in any room - bathroom, laundry, kitchen or garage. It works with a standard off-the-shelf #8-32 round head machine screw & nut combo that you can find at most hardware stores. You can either pre-measure and buy the right length of screws or purchase long ones and trim them down to size using bolt-cutters or a saw. To secure the nut, just thread it onto a screw, then guide the nut into the knob and lock it in place by moving perpendicularly. Once locked, you can unthread the screw and install as with any other knob.\nI originally planned to design an insertable shim to hold the nut in place but after printing and installing several knobs, they installed securely without one. There is a small gap behind a thin layer of material behind the nut where excess screw length can fit. This extra space provides built-in tolerance if your screws are too long; as you install, the screw will easily break through the plastic and occupy the space behind the nut.\nThe thin layer of material was necessary to print the knob with the nut installation port facing down. With the front-facing side up, you can modify the top surface to add text or a design of your choice. I'm planning to add a raised monogram in contrast color on the front face of the knob.\nI hope this design proves useful if you're looking for a simple knob; feel free to leave any comments, questions or feedback.\nPrint Settings\nPrinter Brand: Prusa\nRafts: No\nSupports: No\nResolution: 0.15 mm\nInfill: 20%
