I wanted to suspend a small light above some plants without compromising the wall or window frame. Instead of screwing anything in place, I came up with a simple yet effective solution. This makeshift bracket allows me to hang my light without attaching it to the wall or window frame. It simply hangs from the window surround, providing a versatile and non-invasive option for lighting placement. A small hook holds the hanger in place at the top of the window surround, while a second hook secures what I want to suspend below. A horizontal brace prevents the hook from being pulled down, effectively turning the top hook into a stable center of rotation. However, this is prevented by the brace, which keeps everything securely in place. When set up correctly, with all components snug and the brace holding the hanger beyond its vertical axis, the entire system works seamlessly. What's more, it can be easily removed without leaving any holes or damage behind. The design of the hanger may require some adjustments to fit perfectly on your window surrounds, especially if there's limited grip at the top. However, this DIY solution provides a great starting point and idea for creating a hanging system that suits your needs.
