Simple horizontal expansion test - Hole Size Test
thingiverse
It's widely acknowledged that FDM printed components frequently exhibit slight dimensional inaccuracies, including undersized holes. The Horizontal Expansion setting within Cura -typically concealed within the Shell menu- enables users to specify a compensation value when assembling parts. Optimal results are often achieved with values ranging from -0.05 to -0.2 mm for a 0.4 nozzle. A straightforward and convenient test can be conducted without a caliper. This piece was designed to determine which value yields the correct fit. To perform this test, you will need a set of Allen keys (metric hex keys) with sizes 2, 4, 6, and/or 8 mm. Given that this part measures 25 x 20 x 10 mm, it's easy to print multiple sets using different Horizontal Expansion values.
