Simple Gabion for 28mm Wargaming
thingiverse
Gabions - huge wicker baskets filled with earth - were often part of battlefield fortifications and siege lines during the 17th to 19th centuries. As well as anchoring the timber retaining walls of earthworks and trenches, they could be placed in front of artillery embrasures to protect crews while loading their guns, and hauled out of the way when the gun was ready to fire. I've left the raised surface deliberately simple so you can cover it with textured paint, sand or flocking to get the desired effect for the earth filling the gabion.
