Simple floor tile pattern
sketchfab
As I lent a hand to my ex in cleaning and preparing his house for sale, I made my way down into the basement. Down there, I began ripping up old carpet and padding that had probably been installed back in the 1980s. It was grueling, stinky work. As I yanked and pulled at the carpet and pad, a starburst pattern started to emerge. A bullseye pattern showed up at the foot of the steps, too. We think it might've been a game left behind by the early homeowners. This and another starburst pattern were a real surprise. I'm not sure how old it is, but I'm a poor judge of style or materials used. The tile looks like the kind that was common from the 1950s onwards. It could've been bought at a hardware store or maybe even made by hand. I prefer to think it's handmade, because it speaks to me about the pride someone had in adding their own personal touch. Soon, it'll all be buried beneath more padding and carpeting. I wonder who the next person will be that sees it, or when it'll emerge again?
