A simple construction concept that prints easily (without needing any nuts or bolts) and works with any reel without experiencing trouble on different widths. It's also printable quickly because of its clean design. Use standard (skate) bearing 608z. You can get them for a low price on Amazon or eBay. Enjoy! Release Notes: [v 1.2] Mar 30, 2015 Added stabilizer for better handling. Added more options to set up guides to match different perimeters of spools. [v 1.1] Dec 7, 2014 Added beam for more strength. Changed base for better stand. Added second guide. Changed position of first guide. Changed width of bearing mounts and base (-1 mm) for better fit. Changed design and made it "curvy." [v 1.0] Dec 3, 2014 Initial submission Instructions To get the entire construction you need... 2x filament_stand_base_2x.stl 4x filament_stand_guide_4x.stl Used red PLA at 185°C and 40% infill without support (lay both objects on their back so they should print properly). Took about 1.5 hours to print each base, and about three minutes to print each guide. You can print both objects with 100% size and they will fit perfectly. Currently uses it with one kilogram filament reels and is stable enough to carry them. Does not know the limitations, so keep an eye on that if planning to use it with heavier reels.
