Simple enclosure for LilyGo ESP32 PoE
prusaprinters

This is a simple case for the PoE powered ESP32 module from LilyGO.

Room inside the case is intentionally tight as I am using this as a simple remote bt radio/proxy for HomeAssistant. I have no extra things to add to this module so there is no need for additional room inside for wires.

You don't need to screw the PCB into the case but you can. The board is held in place just by the tight fit but if you're going to use this in an environment with vibration, consider the screws.

To get the PCB into the case, start with the USB-C connector, then (slightly) bend the case out of the way to make room for the RJ45.

See the
pcb-insert-{1,2}.jpg
photos attached to this post for clarification.

-----

PoE devices always put off some heat; there are small vents near the USB-C and RJ45 connector.

I have added small captive “keyhole” screw slots which should accommodate a m3 screw. Specifically, the max dimensions for the screw head are:

5.5mm wide

3.25 mm tall

shaft OD 3mm

The holes extend all the way to the bottom of the case so you can install some basic magnetic screw standoffs like these:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256803111698143.html

------

The lid has a snap fit.

Print orientation should be obvious.

Material and infill are up to you but there's almost no room for error so print as slow as you need to for a precise and detailed print!

I used the [`3d_file.stp`](https://github.com/Xinyuan-LilyGO/LilyGO-T-ETH-POE/blob/master/3d_file.stp) file from the LilyGo GH repo to put this together quickly.
