Simple Drybox Filter
thingiverse
I created an ultra-simplistic drybox filter, which didn't require any complex hardware or additional components. The user simply assembles the two parts together by sandwiching the box in between them - that's it, no further complicated processes needed. You simply insert the filament into the rear printed piece (the flat one), then surround it with a sponge and push both pieces together inside a hole drilled into the box (I used a 3/4-inch holesaw) and attach the front piece securely to hold everything in place... I used an extremely affordable Sterilite 54QT "Gasket Box" that you can easily find at Walmart, which should make it accessible to everyone; plus, this particular brand is designed as air-tight - although I admit using this box might slightly compromise its performance. Nonetheless, I don't think that will be a problem. I also used an extra 1-inch outer diameter PVC pipe for the spools and provided brackets for those who might need them. Since it would have been very specific to my individual setup, adding these brackets may prove unnecessary - however, perhaps someone else could benefit from them. There are available 1.75 mm and 3.0mm versions. The holes were deliberately printed fairly tightly so users can then simply drill out the excess after installation for a snugger fit.
