Recently I needed to draw a circle larger than the compass I have and decided to make a new one. You need a 3/16 " threaded rod with four nuts, two #6 by 3/4” screws with nuts and a needle point (cut a piece of a thick sewing needle). In the writing end you can use a pencil, a ball point pen, a marker or almost any other writing instrument.
You may need to epoxy the pencil holder screws. The nut holes are smaller than the nuts to hold them by pressure. You can put the needle in place heating it a little bit (PLA softens at a very low temperature).
