Simple Child Lock for Sliding Windows or Doors

Simple Child Lock for Sliding Windows or Doors

thingiverse

This is a simple "print-in-place" locking mechanism for sliding doors or windows, composed of two flaps connected by a hinge. Use double-faced tape to fix the lock to the fixed pane of the door / window, just touching or slightly afar from the edge of the moving pane (see pictures), at a hight that children can't reach. When the top flap is down at 90 degrees, the sliding pane cannot be opened but pushing the flap up to be flat with the fixed pane, the moving pane can easily be opened (please see pictures and video). I printed it in PLA using a 65% infill for rigidity and it does the job just fine. Please feel free to improve upon the design and share it accordingly. NOTE: you may notice that the text is upside down on the pictures of my prototype but it has already been fixed in the attached STL.
