I crafted a basic OpenSCAD script to impose a grid on a loaded STL with the intention of generating a simple checkered pattern for dual extrusion printing. Unfortunately, OpenSCAD is extremely finicky about imported STLs, which must be manifold and possibly satisfy additional criteria that I have yet to completely grasp. For this exercise, I employed AndresRojas' Faceted Cat as an example; however, prior to use, it necessitated a minor modification.
