Simple Button for Tactile Switch
thingiverse
Mounting a tactile switch requires a simple two-piece design. This setup secures a 6 to 7mm square tactile switch within an enclosure, using a diameter of 0.5 inch for the button. When pressed, this button closes the switch and limits excessive travel. After printing, some additional steps are necessary. A light sanding on the sides of the button where they meet the base helps facilitate smooth movement of the switch. Switch assembly involves soldering from behind the switch itself, with the attached wires serving as an added securing mechanism to keep it in place. When mounting the switch, consider using #4 sheet metal screws through pre-drilled holes. 4-40 machine screws or M2.5 equivalents can also fit snugly into these openings. Lastly, remember to drill a 1/2" hole for the button itself.
