The human hand reaches out to grasp the tool, a device designed specifically to push molten plastic through a nozzle and onto a surface below. This "direct extruder" is a machine that works by drawing material from a hopper or reservoir and forcing it out in a continuous stream. As the plastic exits the nozzle, it cools and solidifies into the desired shape, taking on the form dictated by the movement of the tool.
