Simple battery (18650) spacer tray for welding (zero gap)
thingiverse
You're looking at a simple 4x4 tray for 18650 batteries, designed to align them in a neat cubic or rectangular pattern for easy tab welding with a spot welder. The idea here is to have the walls of the batteries touching on all four sides, making it a gapless design. In the picture you see, I didn't take the time to clean up the tray when it was filled with cells, so it looks a bit cluttered. Please be careful: do not attempt to solder lithium ion batteries, as this could lead to a fire or small explosion. It's crucial to remember that cylindrical cells must always be spot welded, and I've written about my novel spot welder design in another post.
