Simple Auto-off addon for any printer
thingiverse
Hi everyone, I'm thrilled to finally contribute something meaningful to the Thingiverse community. I hope you find this interesting and useful. From my very first prints, I've been frustrated with having to manually turn off my printer once a job is complete. After almost a year of tinkering with my printer, I decided it was time to take action. I'm aware that some folks might suggest using Arduino as an easy solution, but it comes with its own set of issues - like having to hunt down a 9Vdc power source or not wanting to waste a board on such a simple task. On the plus side, Arduino makes it ridiculously easy to add other features without getting tangled up in extra cables. However, since I'm not looking to expand my printer's capabilities anytime soon and my primary focus is automation, I decided to design an auto-off system based solely on relays. I also wanted to keep things as non-invasive as possible when it comes to the printer itself - no new holes or wire cutting for me! To me, this seemed like the simplest way to add this feature, and since I couldn't find anything similar online, I'm hoping someone out there will find it useful. Feel free to ask any questions you may have (my written English is a bit rough around the edges...), and I'll do my best to respond ASAP.
