Simple Adjustable Fan Mount
thingiverse
I designed these simple joints to make positioning my fans more accurate. They're meant for the extruder I created and allow me to use some attached fans, but should work with other mounts as well. The segments are 4.5mm tall and have room for an M3 bolt to be sunk in 2.5mm. Each has a nut trap on the underside for easy tightening of two segments and locking a joint into position. I'm planning to combine several segments to create an adjustable arm that can be easily repositioned. UPDATE 8/27/2016: I've created a new version with added strength by making it slightly taller. I replaced the pan head sinks with hex traps, as most M3 bolts fit in them just fine. The lengths were adjusted so they're not too close in size. Additionally, I made a version where both hex traps are on the same side to help navigate tricky clearance situations. Fans are recommended to avoid too much cleanup.
