Simple 3D Puzzle
thingiverse
A straightforward 3D puzzle has been created from wood by my grandfather and then from plastic using a CNC machine. However, you don't need a CNC for this; other tools like bandsaw, scroll saw, small coping saw or drill can be used. The design of the pieces is simple. I have provided SketchUp, DXF files and images to guide you. I designed the pieces to be cut from 1/2" thick material, but a 1/4" bit was used on my routing machine. You may need to round off outer edges with a file or use a square file on inside corners for the pieces to fit if using CNC as it rounds inside corners. 3D printers won't face this problem. Be cautious not to overfile or sand; keep tolerances close. Rescale parts based on material thickness and dimensions (4" x 1.5" in my case). There are three pieces that fit easily together within minutes. If stuck, ask for help. Enjoy the puzzle!
