I've seen many spool holders for 2020 extrusions in my time, but none of them seem to achieve simplicity and elegance. I decided to tackle this problem head-on by optimizing filament usage, print time, and fitment. To avoid infill altogether, I recommend using Cura with a 50% infill setting, which is remarkably effective at providing the necessary support. I also omitted brim and support material entirely. Here's how it works: Print the spool holder in two halves. First, flip the model upside down and sink it into the plate by 39mm. Generate the G-code and start printing. Once complete, ensure that the base fits snugly within the 2020 channel. Next, flip the model back upright and sink it another 22.50mm. Create the G-code again and print this second half. Finally, assemble the two halves together with a dab of glue, and you're done. If additional security is desired to keep the spool holder firmly in place within the 2020 channel, simply apply a short length of double-sided 3M tape.
