Simple 120mm Fan for CR-10 V3 Control Box
thingiverse
This is a 120mm fan adapter for the new style CR-10 V3 control boxes with 2mm cooling holes on the sides instead of slots. It snaps securely into place and replaces both the 50mm and the 40mm Creality fans. Please be aware that the power supply fan is still loud during printing. This only gets rid of the constant whine of the 50mm and 40mm fans. Parts required: 120mm fan and hardware (silicone mounts work well). Printed bracket 24V to 12V buck converter (if needed) Instructions: 1) Remove existing 50mm and 40mm fans and mounts. 2) Move the braided cable from the interior side tie-downs and run it closer to the control board to leave room for the new fan. 3) Tidy up the ribbon cables on the control board to allow airflow to all heat sinks. 4) Fasten a 120mm fan to the printed mount with the airflow arrow pointing away from the mount. Pay attention to where you want the fan's power cable. 5) Insert the fan into the box with the fan towards the control board. Details: The mounting bracket pins slip into the 2mm holes on the control box sides. The pins go into the 5th row of holes, 55mm from the case bottom, The fan fits between the two welded tie-downs inside the case. Slightly angle the fan and pull out gently on the control box sides to allow the pegs to slip into the 2mm holes. Insert the side towards the welded tie-downs first. Please be careful to not bend the case. Notes: Mount the printed bracket on the inlet side of the fan. The mount is recessed for blade clearance. The mount snaps into the 2mm vent holes in the sides of the case. It stays in place with no additional hardware. My CR-10 V3 control board wiring blocked airflow to the heat sinks. A few minutes spent tidying up the wiring can make a huge difference in cooling. A Noctua NF-A12x25 FLX fan is almost silent in this application. DSN2596 or similar buck converters are inexpensive and can be used to drop the CR-10's 24V down to 12V for the fan, or you can use a 24V fan. This buck converter mount by James Vogel (voglster) is perfect for this application. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1160062
