PICTURES SHOW OLDER DESIGN; New design features round grips that make it easy to remove the connector without pulling on the cable. This is a functional replacement socket designed specifically for FM1100/FM1000 series radios, renowned within the ham radio community for being highly hackable, robust and versatile. (Capable of PC control, running custom VFO firmwares & 9.6k baud packet radio) It should be compatible with all units operating on 4m, VHF, & UHF frequencies. This socket fits into the radio via friction-fit, requiring a delicate balance between flow and temperature to achieve the perfect fit. However, fit can vary significantly from one printer and filament combination to another due to small tolerances. For the pins, you will need Farnell part No: 299571 or similar pins from an Molex connector (Old fashioned HDD power plug) sourced from a computer power supply. These pins also rely on friction-fit and may require considerable force to press in, making side cutters held open a useful tool. After extensive personal use for over a year and the successful assembly of two dozen units sold to satisfied buyers, this socket has proven its reliability.
