This is just a simple retaining nut which broke, really just disintegrated, on my Simmons Model 081302 Binoculars while I was trying to catch a glimpse at Neowise (https://www.nasa.gov/mission\_pages/neowise/main/index.html). When the binoculars fell apart, one of the eyepieces actually rolled off the roof I was on and was not damaged in the fall, so I knew I had to fix it, if it can take that kind of abuse.

This retaining nut is just held in place using a M3X10MM cap screw, and I used a M3 washer between the screw and the plastic washer. Interestingly the screw hole on my set appeared to have been hand drilled since it was a good 3 degrees off kilter but it really does not matter, although it could be intentional for some reason too I suppose. I'm gonna lock-tite the screw in to keep it from working loose. I printed this with 90% infill, so it is pretty much solid.
Category: Sport & Outdoors
