Apologies to Robert Palmer, but this project is "Simblee Irresistible." Build your own app that connects the Internet to any of your things using Simblee. RF Digital Corporation has created a small, fingernail-sized chip that enables two-way communication between any project and a smart device. At the time of this project, May 2016, only iOS devices are supported - Android support is in the works. You build the smart device app right inside the chip's firmware. This chip is called Simblee. Simblee (RF Digital RFD77101) is a unique combination of a Bluetooth "smart" radio transceiver and an ARM Cortex M0 microcontroller. Although the Bluetooth portion of this combination can send comm links via current-sipping Bluetooth low energy protocols, the real "secret sauce" of the chip is its ability to be programmed with the Arduino Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The Build Let's use Simblee for something practical - a remote weather station. How many times do you check the weather report on your smart device each morning? More often than not, this compulsive addiction to weather data reaches a peak right before you go out the door in the morning. Is it hot? Do I need a jacket? Should I bring a bottle of water? These are the types of questions that you need answered before leaving your house.
