sketchfab
A silver belt hanger originating from Nidajno bog, situated in Czaszkowo, Masuria, Poland. This site falls within the Bogaczewska Culture zone, but the object itself was likely imported. The intricate animal decoration, showcasing a fish design, features gilding techniques while the background is crafted with niello, a black mixture of copper, silver, and lead sulfides. Dating back to the Roman Period, this belt ornament stands out as an exceptional piece. Material sourced from the Department of Archaeology of Early Middle Ages, Institute of Archaeology, University of Warsaw, and the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology, Polish Academy of Science. A 3-D model was created by Miron Bogacki and Otto Bagi.
