Silver Beam

Silver Beam

I created this model as a visual representation of a sword in an upcoming novel I'm writing. The sword is 1 meter long, with a slightly smaller scale than traditional longswords, which can be over 1.6 meters long. This was done to make it feasible for printing in plastic, as larger models may break under their own weight. Designing the model took days, and printing it required around 36 hours of non-stop work, including several failed attempts and revisions. The sword's design features gem slots on both sides of the guard, which will grant special powers to the character wielding it in the story. Future versions of this model may include interchangeable gems. I hope you enjoy printing this as much as I did. UPDATE: I've added a full-length blade for those with printers large enough to print a single piece. It's highly recommended that the guard and handle be printed with a higher infill density and mass, so the blade won't snap off when handling it.
