Silurian soil pisolite
thingiverse
Pisolite soil from Pipe Creek Junior Quarry in Indiana is unique as it's one of few undolomitized Silurian patch reefs in the US Midwest. The spherical shapes are formed when small, concentrically-laminated spherules fill all interspherule porosity. Dr. Franek Hasiuk's GeoFabLab at Iowa State University's Department of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences scanned this specimen using a MakerBot Digitizer Desktop 3D Scanner set on "medium".
