Silt Horror Tentacles - Dark Sun Kraken

Update: I have changed the CC license of my models because of the lack of clarity around AI use. If you want to re-mix, reuse, rewhatever my model, just ask.. Some silt horror tentacles I made for my Dark Sun game. I thought I would share with others. The scale on them is very big, but I needed the silt horror to challenge a large ship. For drama! About the Silt Horror: "BENEATH THE CHURNING DUST of the Sea of Silt lurk the ruins of lost civilizations and the relics of distant ages. The creatures that dwelled in these forgotten cities are gone, their bones now dust and ash. Yet these ruins are not as empty as many would believe. Strange creatures swim in the sea's depths, tentacled horrors whose appetites for flesh are matched only by their enormous, grotesque forms." - From the Dark Sun Creature Catalog (4e) Not usually my jam to cite 4e, but it makes for good flavor text… Model Options: When printing the tentacles I advise mirroring the Y or X orientations of duplicate styles for variety. You can also shrink the Z axis a bit without affecting the fit of the model into the base. Wait? Where is the Head? When I made this model I was not prepared to create my own head. (Maybe one day I will… but… ) Instead I used the head of Schlossbauer's purple worm and sized it up and cropped it down accordingly. Since it is a remix, and the tentacles are not, I have posted them separately. And it's objectively a low effort remix since all I did was crop and resize. That said, I know folks sometimes like to be able to grab and go, so I posted it. Ta da:https://www.printables.com/model/233744-silt-horror-head-remix-dark-sunMy hat off to Schlossbauer for the level of detail in his model. I was able to scale the model up considerably beyond the intended purpose without losing quality. The attention to texture and detail in the models is great. I would also invite folks to look at other worm and dragon heads and decide if one better suits your silt horror vision. Printing Notes:Model Balance: To get some of the dynamic twists, the models ended up not being balanced on their center of gravity. For that reason, I added bases to my models. If you print them and do not put them on a base, they will be precarious and most will fall over. Bases: I printed the bases separate from the tentacles to make them easier to store. Base fit tolerance: The tolerances of the bases have been tested. However, your mileage may vary. Different layer heights and nozzles greatly impact fit tolerance. I advise printing a base and then printing the bottom of a tentacle to ensure fit. If the fit is loose, you can always wrap tape around the base cylinder to make the fit snug. Supports: Because these models are tall they can be tricky to support. I used the built in supports from the Prusa slicer. I advise increasing the merge distance of the supports so that the supports are a single unit. Adding Variety: When printing a bunch of these I advise to mirror the Y or X orientations on some of the copies for variety. I also shrank some them on the Z axis so that I could have different heights without it affecting the base fit tolerance. Enjoy Oh, and yes, the female mul models are still in progress…
