Sillimanite emerges as the premier polymorph among aluminosilicates (Al₂SiO₅), exclusively forming at temperatures exceeding 500°. Typically referred to as 'fibrolite', this sample showcases a fibrous habit, characteristic of sillimanite's distinct properties. Rarely found in its pure form, sillimanite often accompanies other high-temperature metamorphic minerals. This specimen boasts an impressive combination of quartz and minor biotite.
