Silicone Sock for E3D V6 hotends or clones
thingiverse
After E3D released a new heater block with cartridge thermistor, and a silicone sock designed specifically for this block, we discovered that the older type of V6 heater blocks are not compatible with the new sock. We took action by designing and manufacturing a new sock to be fully compatible with the older V6 style heater block. Our silicone sock design provides an unmatched grip on the heater block body. Through rigorous testing of various prototypes, we found that socks with "easy to install and remove" designs had a tendency to loosen over time and even come off during the print process. In contrast, our sock offers a complete glove-like grip all over the heater block. We are releasing two versions of our silicone sock - one with a closed nozzle and another with an open nozzle. The published STL files have been downsized to about 97% to ensure that they fit perfectly under the heat. The STLs we publish can be used to create a negative mold design, allowing you to 3D print mold parts and cast your own silicone socks. We plan to design the mold parts and make them available here. Our current design is optimized for industrial injection molding processes. You can purchase these silicone socks directly from our website: https://gulfcoast-robotics.com/SOCK_3
