silicone sock and fan duct.

silicone sock and fan duct.

At first, I wanted to design a silicone heat block sock with an integrated fan duct. However, then I wondered if high-temperature silicone would provide sufficient insulation for an ABS fan duct glued directly onto the heat block. I could touch it without burning my finger, so I had to try. So I designed this fan duct and printed it using ABS. Next, I filled it with high-temperature silicone (such as engine gasket or stove sealant) and attached it directly to the heat block. Note that I had to disassemble my hot end to remove the nozzle and make it as long as possible; alternatively, I could have purchased a longer one. I set my turbine fan to 100% at all times, except during the first three layers, to keep the fan duct cool. As a result, I have no problem reaching print temperatures, and air flow is hardly improved. So far, it seems to work very well! To be remixed!
