Silica Gel Pot

Silica Gel Pot

A small container with holes to hold silica gel for your filaments is easy to make and use. I've used colored silica gel so you can see when it needs replacement. The container was printed in PETG, which has a slightly rough finish due to its properties, but this isn't necessary for the design's functionality. The thread on the first attempt is tight but will loosen with wear, and the cap is 0.25mm shorter than the thread, creating a small gap. I've updated the design by printing it in ColorFabb PLA with a raft and making the holes larger to prevent silica gel from falling out. I've also added a hex lid for easier opening or closing if needed. The large version holds more silica gel and fits into the middle of a spool. Print Settings: Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 15% Notes: Infill doesn't matter much, as the walls don't use it and only a small ledge below the thread does. I printed with a brim, but this depends on your printer's ability to keep objects on the bed. Design Process: I designed this container in Fusion 360, which was my first project using that software - I've always used 123D Design before. I've included STEP files for those who prefer them, and I'm happy to upload more versions if needed.
