Silica Gel Canister Holder
thingiverse
I store my filament in Samla boxes using rechargeable silica cannisters compatible with the Pelican 40 gram 1500D Silica Gel Canisters. To avoid crushing the canisters, I put one at the bottom of each box, but this wasn't always reliable. So, I created a holder in Tinkercad to keep the canister safe and out of the way. This design allows me to attach it to the lid or side of the box using Velcro. The advantage of Velcro is that I can easily remove the holder when I need to get the canister out. However, be aware that the fit might be tight depending on the canister and printer model, so do a test print before proceeding. You can also modify the Tinkercad models if you want to make changes. When it's time to recharge, remember to remove the canisters from the holder before baking them at 280F for two hours. This is crucial to avoid messes or fires. Printer Settings: Brand: RepRap Model: Original Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% Notes: Be careful when removing the supports, as they can break easily if not handled carefully. I used Simplify3D for slicing and support generation. Design Details: The Tinkercad models are available here if you want to customize or modify them. The designs include an oval hole at the end to aid in removal (Version 1) and a finger cutout to help with easy extraction (Version 2). Note that I only printed Version 1, as I came up with the idea for Version 2 after completing my initial prints.
