Silica desiccant electrical dryer
thingiverse
This is a custom electrical heater designed to dry silica desiccant without removing it from pre-filled boxes. The link to the ready-made desiccant box is http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2245855. Electronics are straightforward, utilizing a temperature controller, power socket, and power supply. I've connected the controller output to an old heated bed from a Lulzbot Mini printer. The temperature sensor is attached to the bottom of the heated bed, while in my case, it was necessary to use a separate temperature sensor due to its different resistance range. The lid features a humidity/temperature module similar to those used in silica desiccant boxes, making it easy to monitor humidity and temperature inside the chamber. The design consists of multiple printed parts, with careful consideration given to printing ease while maintaining high-temperature usability. I've combined regular PLA for complex prints and ABS for easier prints but better temperature resistance. Polycarbonate was used for parts directly in contact with the heater element. Aluminum foil covers the lid for improved temperature resistance and reduced heat transfer through the wall. I later modified my box to include a fan due to high humidity preventing effective drying.
