Silent Running drone no painting required

This remix allows you to print a multi-colored Dewey without using paint. Where possible I used the filament changing ability supported by most printers. Check your slicer to see if it lets you identify the layer where the filament change happens. If not, you'll have to pause your printer manually. Where filament changing couldn't be used, I separated the stl into multiple stls and glued the parts together. This remix doesn't contain all the files you need to print Dewey - only the files I created. So start by downloading the files in the original design then add my files. From the original design, don't print Control_Panel.stl, Rear.stl, Grille.stl, and Hydraulic2.stl. The most important color is Dewey's body. I searched everywhere for a blue gray before deciding that Paramount-3D's Steel Gray PLA was closest to the color in the movie. I'll refer to this as "body color". The other color that's hard to match is the legs and feet. I used Hatchbox Brick Red. I'll refer to this as "leg color". The hydraulic parts were designed to accommodate small rubber hollow tubing. At a local retail craft store, I found something called "Pony Bead Lacing". Its outer diameter is 2 mm. You can find it on amazon.com. Here are the files I created with the layer height and colors I used: Control_Panel_Modified.stl - 0.15, body color Control_Panel_Buttons.stl - 0.1, glue to Control_Panel_Modified.stl, dark gray Control_Panel_Handle.stl - 0.1, glue to Control_Panel_Modified.stl, orange Grille_01.stl - 0.2, black, change to red at layer 7.4 Rear_01.stl - 0.2, body color, change to red at layer 1.60 Rear_Rivots.stl - 0.2, body color, glue to Rear_01.stl Hydraulic_Body2.stl - 0.2, body color, change to silver at layer 9.6, change to blue at layer 12.0, print 2 Hydraulic_Leg2.stl - 0.2, leg color, change to blue at layer 0.6 Lens.stl - 0.1, clear Lens_Frame.stl - 0.2, black All other multi-color parts were done by changing the filament mid-print. In the original design, Legs2.stl contains a flat spot on one side. This is where Hydraulic_Leg2.stl is glued to. On my printer, extrusion is slow to start after changing the filament mid-print. This is disastrous for small parts. The entire first layer of the next color can be skipped leading to poor adhesion between the two colors. To work around this, I added a part in the slicer that prints before everything else. This part needs to be only as tall as the last layer change. I used a 10 mm cylinder. Place this part furthest back to ensure it prints first. See the photo to better understand.
