Silent extruder gears (Rapman)

To eliminate irritating CLICK-CLACK sounds, I replaced standard acrylic involute gears with herringbone gears. These new gears feature a floor for easy grub/nut positioning and a setback rebate for hassle-free fitting. Additionally, they remain in mesh constantly, reducing slack during direction reversal for cleaner prints. When printing, avoid using PLA due to extruder motor heat affecting the drive gear. During installation, use an M8 flat washer instead of a split-ring washer on the shaft and place the split-ring between the original washer and nut. This prevents loosening without tilting the driven gear. Lastly, face the grub slot upwards for aesthetics; it hides the slot and creates an attractive appearance from the front of the machine.
